Aesthetica Magazine. Describing itself as ‘a library of cross-disciplinary interestingness and combinatorial creativity’, and we think accurately so – this is a sort of super-resource for writers and, in fact, everyone. Charleston. Situated in East Sussex, this farmhouse was the home and country meeting place for the writers, painters and intellectuals known as the Bloomsbury group. The interior was painted by the artists Duncan Grant and Vanessa Bell, and together with their collection forms a unique example of their decorative style. Situated in East Sussex, the house and gardens are open to the public Wednesday- Sunday in spring and summer and the literary tradition continues in the shape of an annual literary festival in May and, of course, Small Wonder: THE Short Story Festival in September. Find out more.

Harveys Brewery. Dating back to 1790, Harveys is the oldest independent brewery in Sussex. Small Wonder: THE Short Story Festival.Small Wonder, Charleston’s annual short story jamboree, is held in a grade 2 listed barn in Sussex – an ideal setting for an interactive, autumnal festival with lively readings, discussions, workshops and performances by innovative national and international writers.
